Rebecca Quinn

My name is Rebecca Quinn & I’m 24 years old and from a small village in Donegal, Ireland. I have suffered from Hidradenitis Suppurativa since I was 13 years old, but I didn’t receive a diagnosis until I was 21. I was diagnosed by accident as I was at a dermatologist for my cystic acne, but when I showed the derm my “acne” in my groin, she gave me an HS diagnosis.

I tried to ignore it until I needed my first surgery in September 2020, so then I created my Instagram @rebs.journey to document my journey & meet other HS warriors along the way. I have developed a perianal fistula as a side effect of my HS & my aim is to raise awareness & speak as openly as possible about all the good, bad & ugly sides of HS. I want to be the woman my teenage self needed when I felt alone & embarrassed.

My passions include bagpiping & competing in bagpiping competitions & sea swimming. I am about to start college to become a mental health nurse.
