What are your tips for finding a good dermatologist?

Share your tips with fellow community members! If you haven’t found a good specialist, what challenges have you faced?

  1. there doesn't seem to be a foundation for the UK.
my daughter has been given these meds that can cause organ damage im so desperate to get a alternative treatment for her .
she's only 26 .far too young to put her organs at risk .
there are other anti inflammatory medication stay don't put you at risk like this

    1. Hi , I'm so glad you reached out. I think I responded to another of your comments with some links to information about home remedies and alternative therapies. (Please let me know if you don't get them and I will share them again.) Your reluctance for your daughter to take certain medications is completely understandable, and luckily there are a lot of other options to try before going that route if you're not comfortable with that medication. Your daughter deserves to feel comfortable with her treatment plan. I also want to also share an article here with you that has information about various types of medications that can be used to treat HS as well, https://hsdisease.com/medication. This medication that you've shared is certainly an option, but as you can see it is not the only choice there is. Please know that our community is here for you and your daughter! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

  2. The more someone knows about HS the better! The more someone is willing to fight on your behalf, the better! HS treatment is so experimental that the more a doctor is up to date on the research, the better. For me, it helps to ask in HS support groups or on different HS communities if anyone lives in my area and sees a doctor that they like. Recommendations from your peers are the best, I think!

    1. I love the HS Foundation because they put together a map for patients to locate specialists in their area. https://www.hs-foundation.org/hs-specialty-clinics
