Breakout areas

Hi, I’m new to the HS community and I am recently experiencing a severe breakout, however it’s also all over my upper thigh and knees…is this normal or should I be worried?

  1. Thank you so much! I’m not necessarily sure yet, i know cheese is definitely a trigger, however I had no idea clothing could also be a trigger! I’ll try to see what makes my HS worsen.

  2. Hello! HS can be really tricky to manage sometimes. I think the first question I would probably have is, do you know your triggers? Some patients notice they have more flares with synthetic fabrics or binding clothes, or if they sweat too much. Others notice if they have fluctuations in their hormones. And some people are thrown into a flare by their foods, and do better if they avoid sugar, flour, yeast, potatoes, tomatoes, and cow’s milk. Everyone is different, truly. HS has typical places where it shows up, but we humans have hair follicles everywhere except on our palms and the soles of our feet, so your inflammation might show up on your legs. I am attaching an article about managing HS that might provide you with some info or ideas. Sending you some big healing vibes! ~Chelsea (Team Member) https://hsdisease.com/management
