Weird scar?

I had a small one in groin area two years ago. It was right where the elastic part of my underwear were on inner thigh/groin area. I used heat compress and it opened up and healed (I thought) pretty quickly. Now here I am two years later and in that exact spot a painful scar looking thing has appeared. I tried heat, but it never really opened. I tried tea tree oil, vicks, peroxide- nothing. The weirdest thing is there’s no bump. It’s the opposite. It feels like there’s a small hole underneath some really thin skin that is red and very tender. Any idea what will help this?

  1. What you're describing is how my hs started in high school. Eventually the flare ups were more and more frequent and they got larger every time. I didn't seek medical care for 15 years because I had expected the dr.s to notice the huge painfull sores and scars on my inner thighs. Especially the gyno and then the obstetrician when I was pregnant and giving birth. Never expect a dr to notice something you haven't asked about. Its a very unfortunate truth and the best advice I can give.

    1. Hi ShareShew! That is very wise advice. Sometimes it takes time and experience to learn how to be your own best advocate. And maybe doctors thought someone else was taking care of it, since it wasn't brought up? There are certain barriers in healthcare that we have to jump over and through as well, including how specialized each area has become, and certain biases that are built into the system. 2. Hey, ! I am glad to hear the PRID ointment is providing some relief. It's been a couple of days now, and I wanted to check in to see how you're doing today? If you haven't seen this article yet, it might be helpful as it explains what is going on underneath the skin: https://hsdisease.com/symptoms/bumps. I would also like to reiterate what said - you are not alone! Sending healing energy your way 💜 Amylyn (Team Member)

    1. I found an ointment yesterday at the store called PRID. I’d never seen it before and since the aloe, and super strong antibiotic creams weren’t doing much I got it. So far it has made a huge difference. It comes in a little brown metal tub and it smells awful and looks gross but it is really helpful!!

      1. Hi Beck, thanks for sharing & reaching out. In my case this is completely normal. I have lots of scars/openings on my groin from a small flare. Sometimes it burns and can leak fluid. I haven’t cracked the code on how to “fix” these but just know you aren’t alone!! 💜 - Rebecca (Team member)
