Does surgery help?

Adding surgery to a biologic, does that help in any way? Do they return quickly? Is surgery even worth it?

  1. What a great question, ! Some people find surgery helpful, although as you can see from Gracie's comment it certainly isn't the right answer for everyone. Have you spoken with your doctor about surgery at all yet?

I know I shared some information on surgery with one of your other comments, but I'm linking an article that goes more into depth about surgery, if you're interested, https://hsdisease.com/surgery. I'll also include a link to an article with different types of treatment, https://hsdisease.com/treatment. Although you're probably aware of them all, already, I thought I'd include it just in case.

Are you currently on a biologic to manage your HS? And how are you finding it to be?

Hopefully more of our community members here can let you know about their experiences with surgery!

Wishing you a gentle day. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. I would avoid surgery at all costs personally. I heard from a friend of a friend that they eventually returned. Diet is the key. Clean eating, avoid sugar and any process foods, losing any excess weight will help more than surgery or any pharmaceutical drugs.

      1. thanks so much for sharing! Surgery isn't the answer for everyone (although some people find it helpful and successful), so we appreciate you sharing about your friend's friend's experience.

It sounds like you've had some success managing your HS symptoms with diet? Would you be interested in sharing a little more about your personal experience with us?
