Thoughts on weather and climate affecting HS flares?

Hi all,

With reading how HS can be flared by hot and humid climates/weather, I was wondering if anyone had experience living in a desert or dry/arid climate with HS?

I have mainly lived in hot and humid climates, and have been wanting to gain more insight on if an arid climate would be ideal for living with HS, since there would not be as much moisture in the air. I have been dealing with HS for 18 years now and humidity has always seemed to be a discomfort.

Thanks for reading and any insights!

Take care,

  1. What a great question, . I hope any of our members who have experience in drier climates see your question and can share with you here. I did do a little searching our our site to see if we have any applicable articles but I, unfortunately, didn't see anything specific to humid vs. arid, just about the heat exacerbating HS symptoms. It certainly makes sense that humidity causes discomfort for you. And I hope that we can help you get the information you're looking for! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. Thank you for your reply Christine! I am hopeful to get some experiences from people. I have had the opportunity to take numerous trips out west; Colorado and Phoenix for example. I have noticed the lesions are not as inflamed/red after being there for a few days. I definitely think humidity is a factor that should be researched more. Thanks again, and take care. 😀
