Dealing with the physical and mental toll

I am looking for some support. I've had hs for 15 years but only got diagnosed and treated for about 6 months now. I have severe anxiety and depression.

  1. thanks for joining the community and just know that you're not alone. There's so many great people here in the community that knows exactly what you have to live with... Stay strong 💜

    1. Thank you so much for acknowledging me! I also have been recently diagnosed with pmdd which basically means any problems I have are intensly amplified for 1-3 weeks surrounding my period. So during those days I have a really hard time coping and I have been looking for support from people who know what it's like. I do have a good medical and mental care team but I do not have urgent access to any of them. I'm trying to get a better paid job so I can afford to pay for one of those mental health apps that gives you round the clock access to mental Healthcare. I have made all the diet changes and things can seem fine for any amount of time until the bottom drops out again. I am Really hoping to find some help within this community. @Rebecca Quinn

      1. Hello ShareShew! We know that HS is definitely affected by hormone fluctuations, and the fact that you are dealing with PMDD on top of HS has just got to be agony. I know that when I have lesions that are out of control I want them taken care of within an hour, not a week or more, so not having that availability feels like another mountain to climb. I'm going to pass along a resource to you that has helped many, many people, and it's a site that was built by a friend of mine. She was frustrated because she couldn't find help in one place, so she decided to put it all together herself. It's a lot of info, but click on everything! And if we can be of any assistance, we are always here to help. By the way, I don't know if you know about graduate programs in colleges offering free or very low cost counseling sessions to members of their communities, in many cities all across the U.S.. It's good practice for the grad students. Here is the website for the resources: www.howtogeton.wordpress.com

    2. Thanks for reaching out & welcome to th community. My name is Rebecca & I also have HS. I've suffered greatly with depression and anxiety over the years too and HS didn't help. It can be tough. Just know that you aren't alone. I hope treatment is helping a bit and if not keep the faith! It can be a very isolating and painful disease. I'm sending you love!!!! - Rebecca
