Hs in your hair and possible hair extensions.

Hi! I’m sorry if this is a silly question but I get he slightly in my scalp. Like some bumps with hurt or some scabs will form it’s not horrible because my hairs in good shape but my scalp can just get sensitive. I was thinking of getting hand tied hair extensions and was wondering if anyone has experienced this. And if so if they also have the bumps in their scalp. Is it painful? Or is it not bad? I tried googling if anyone has done this but nothing if popping up. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

  1. Not a stupid question at all. I haven't experienced HS in my head but I do have issues with my scalp being sensitive and sometimes I do get scabs. I just tend to not do "protective" styles that might pull on my roots so much. I have found it's better for me to do an afro than weave in hair sometimes. We gotta give our scalps a break. Wigs can help to give you another look without putting so much strain on the roots.

    1. This is not a stupid question at all! I actually have alopecia universalis, meaning I have lost all of my hair all over my entire body, so I have to wear wigs. Let me tell you, I get HS spots everywhere, including my scalp. The little ones hurt too! It's just easier for me to get to them and treat them because I don't have any hair in the way! I don't think I'm lucky in that sense, I just have different challenges, right? Like if I don't get my eyebrows tattooed, they just slide off my face when the weather gets to be 119 degrees in the desert here. 😀 But having hair added to your head using any method is going to have really specific problems. I think one thing you are probably going to run into is that you aren't going to be able to get to anything that is under the knots very quickly. Maybe you could talk to your stylist about trying something out that isn't heavy or is a smaller area, and go from there? Let me know what you think.
