Treatment for HS

Is anyone on or has been on humira? And if so does it actually work ? And how long did you stay on it for?

  1. Hi! Humira is in the family of medications called biologics, and I was on it for 15 months. I was actually allergic to it but the nurse that visited me in my home that was provided by the manufacturer said it was a common side effect at that time and the company wanted me to continue. I finally insisted that I was done when I couldn't tolerate it anymore and my HS was actually getting a lot worse. I ended up trying five different biologics in total, and am currently on Xeljanz, which is a pill, not an injection, and it's doing a great job of keeping my HS in check. The biologics all take a different "path," so my advice is to not get stuck on the idea of just one taking care of your needs. If one doesn't work, you can set it aside and try another. Wishing you all the best! ~Chelsea (Team Member)
