What are some tips for managing hs?

I was diagnosed with hs at the end of September and tried different medication, im currently taking bluefish 100mg, I find that since getting diagnosed im just constantly tired and nap and sleep quite abit, the flare ups im still trying to find my trigger? Is there any kind of tips and tricks to help please?

  1. Hi

I've been getting alot worse recently and have been doing my own research about my diet and anti inflammatory foods? What would everyone's diet or food they would eat to help solve this as I must say I am abit of a dairy guy and getting more worried about them lately

    1. Hi . Unfortunately, dairy is a common trigger for people with HS. So it might be wise to rule that out first. I know it's hard. I love my dairy as well and I had to go without it for more than a year while nursing my daughter, who was allergic to milk protein, but it will be worth it to find out. Just try eliminating dairy for about 4 weeks and see if that reduces your flares. Then, slowly reintroduce it over the next four weeks to see whether your flares worsen.
Here is an article that lists some other common HS triggers: https://hsdisease.com/living/sticks-stones. I hope this helps and that dairy is not the culprit since you enjoy it so much. Thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Donuts or high amounts of sugarcane trigger mine maybe soda and other high corn syrup. To relieve pain apply a bandage with water and baking soda on the wound for at least a day. You will see pain ease quickly.

  3. Hi . I wanted to check in and see whether you are feeling any better. Are you regaining any energy? Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    2. thank you so much, appreciate the message of wanting to know, still knew to this didnt realise I've had it for a long time, so nice to know other people who have it and what way to deal with it

  4. Hi , I just wanted to echo Lori and welcome you to the community. While I'm sorry to hear that you're currently dealing with fatigue, you definitely aren't alone. (Of course, as Lori pointed out, it's good to check in with your doctor about it as well, if you haven't already, just to determine whether or not the fatigue is related to HS or being caused by something unrelated to the HS.) I also wanted to include this link to information on treatments for HS, https://hsdisease.com/treatment (within the article there are clickable links to more information), as well as this from one of our health leaders about tips for managing HS symptoms, https://hsdisease.com/living/wound-care-hacks.
