I’ve finally outgrown HS

I was 20 years old when I got my first boil. It was a doozy. About as big as 3 golf balls. Went to doctors for about 5+ years- no help. Then a doctor told me I had HS. ( my dad and older brother also always had boils-not as big as mine) the doctor told me I could have them surgically removed. So I had both glands under my arms cut out. About a 4inch by 7-9 inch long incision. Nasty to look at scars. It helped for a year, then in the one arm I would get them again. They went in and scraped out my pits again. Years went by still dealing with it, so I had to deal with it for about 25+ years, then one day they just stopped. I’ve been boil free for about 10 years. I look back on WHY they might have started….. I shaved my armpits and groin real close and I believe I ran the shaver the wrong direction. That in turn made the hair grow ingrown. Thus leading to major big boils. My grandpa, his son (my dad) and my brother all had bad boils, they would have to be lanced. If they had ingrown hair like I did I believe they would have had the size of bad boils I got. Theirs would be the size of a golf ball or smaller. Mine would be the size of 3 golf balls or BIGGER.
I got so good at the boil thing- I would go to the doctor and tell him just get a scalpel and cut it open - no pain shot just cut it open- because nothing could hurt me worse then that boil. Then I would bring a long maxi mad with me and have them tape that on. Because they are sterilized. They always had such a tuff time bandaging me up, so a long maxi pad under your arm works GREAT
So from about 19 to the age of 50, I had to deal with these horrible boils. There is nothing I don’t know or didn’t try regarding these. I guess you could say I’m a HS Pro now.
I’m 57 and boil free. I wouldn’t wish these on anyone. If anyone has any questions for me please feel free to ask.
