Recipe for Art: Cookie Cutter Coloring

Sometimes, during a flare or while experiencing especially painful lesions, those of us with hidradenitis suppurativa get stuck in a loop of depression and inactivity.

Art helps us process our feelings and reprogram our brains and, sometimes, brings a little healing to our hearts. Art is personal, not perfect. Have fun with this project as you create your own coloring design.

Here’s what you’ll need

  • Paper (preferably lined, though unlined is okay)
  • A cookie cutter
  • Something to trace the cookie cutter with like a fine marker
  • 12-16 markers pencils, colores pencils or crayons in a variety of colors.

Coloring is great HS therapy

You have complete freedom to choose the shape and size of your cookie cutter, as well as where it is placed. The more spaces you give yourself to fill and the more color choices you have, the longer it will take to color.

Can you guess what you will be doing while coloring? Yes, meditating! Also, probably solving the world’s problems. Maybe working out an argument. That’s why coloring is therapeutic. And this is one of the most accessible and easiest therapies out there.

So, relax and enjoy!
