I tried everything to heal up the tunneling abscess!! Under my arm, my groin and my buttocks. I couldn't even put all my weight down on my butt. Finally I found a surgeon that said "I'm going to take care of that right now". We scheduled the procedure for the OR (operating room)! After 6 or 7 weeks of packing the wounds and growing healthy tissue back, I went back to work. What a relief! Now if I get an abscess that won't heal, I go back to the surgeon BEFORE it gets too bad, and it's a simple procedure in the office.
I take Metformin, which helps a lot, and I take Doxycycline daily. For me, surgical procedures were the only way to clear up the terrible infections I had. But it took me 6 years to find a surgeon that wasn't afraid to touch me! Maybe this will help someone out there that needs some relief. It was well worth it!
