Anyone on humira for hs?

Hi I have severe hs..I'm on humira again for it. It seems to aggrivate the hs! I've been on it for 3 months and instead of Improvement I see nothing but more hs forming I've been in pain but this time the pain is viscious ! I can only lay on my right side for in August it progressed to my left buttocks looks and feels like I've been hit with a truck. I'm 65 yrs old and the disease has worn me out to the point I don't want to wake up anymore. What a battle! I'm on pain meds morphine and Norco and topical lidocaine..is anyone out there that has a story for me about hs? Thanks lavonna

  1. Hello! First, I'm going to tell you that you can take yourself off of Humira or any other medication at any time, as long as you discuss any need to taper off with your doctor. I was on Humira for 18 months back in 2015 and it did the same for me - accelerate my HS. I also happened to be allergic to the injection itself and ended up with grapefruit-sized welts at the injection sites that made me want to peel my skin off. I have been on five other biologics since then but the one I am on now (Xeljanz) is working great. It's actually taking care of three of my diseases at once, which is exactly what I need it to do. The downside is that I have had shingles twice in 4 months. The medication is notorious for making patients susceptible to that and I'm too young to qualify for the vaccination, and there was a lot of resistance from my insurance and the pharmacies to give me the vaccine. Long story short, if you are that miserable and it's adding to your misery, maybe it's time to explore more options with your doctor. If your doctor is limited in options, maybe it's time to look at other doctors (if that's possible). Sending you some well-deserved hugs and the best of luck! ~Chelsea (Team Member)
