Management of acute HS flare up pregnancy

Does anyone have any experience with intralessional kenacort injection during an acute flare up whilst pregnant ? If I have ever had a flare up of my HS in the past the injection fixes it straight away however a lot online is saying it’s not safe during pregnancy - currently dealing with a really bad flare up and can’t walk and really don’t want an I&D

  1. Hi . I haven't found anything about intralessional kenacort injections and pregnancy in our archives, but, hopefully, someone will chime in with their experience. Have you talked with your OB about it? Your OB is in a better position to weigh the risks and the benefits of taking the medication. I would think your OB would want to take into consideration the physical and mental stress of your flare as well. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Keep us posted if you don't mind. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. I am so sorry you had to go through all that. I hope your OB declares it safe when you finally get to see one so you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Please know that we are here for you whenever you need us. - Lori (Team Member)

    2. oh dear. I just wanted to echo Lori and tell you that I'm sorry you're going through all of this. Would it be possible your OB would be willing to see you earlier if you let them know you have a medication question due to the HS? You certainly deserve to be getting relief! I can only imagine how painful and stressful this has been for you. In the meantime, I wanted to share this with you with some of our community members tips for HS relief, https://hsdisease.com/answers/wound-care-remedies and this article with some wound care hacks, https://hsdisease.com/living/wound-care-hacks. Of course, I imagine you're already well aware of what works for you and what doesn't, but I wanted to offer it to you, just in case. Please know that our community is here for you! Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
