What is your diet to help ease with HS and what are your triggers?

Hi

I've been getting alot worse recently and have been doing my own research about my diet and anti inflammatory foods? What would everyone's diet or food they would eat to help solve this as I must say I am abit of a dairy guy and getting more worried about them lately, I haven't come across someone in public that I know of that has this condition and finding it doesnt get talked about enough, im out of work over them and got told that physical lifting jobs aren't good for me with the amount id sweat, let me know how ye deal with these and some tips would be much appreciated.

  1. Hi , in addition to the information Lori shared about food triggers and diets for HS, I wanted to share a couple of articles with you about wound care. You mention looking for some tips and, while I know this doesn't have to do with food triggers, I thought you might find some of this information helpful.

One of our health leaders wrote an article with some tips for armpit flare ups, https://hsdisease.com/living/flare-tricks. And this article has some general wound care advice, https://hsdisease.com/living/wound-care-hacks. Finally, here is an editorial with some wound care information that you might be interested in, https://hsdisease.com/wound-care.

How are you managing currently? Have you decided about an elimination diet yet? Please don't hesitate to reach out if there is other information that you are interested in or looking for.

Wishing you a gentle day. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

  2. Hi . I responded to you in a comment on another thread, but I thought I would repeat it here just in case you don't see it. Unfortunately, dairy is a common trigger for people with HS. So it might be wise to rule that out first. I know it's hard. I love my dairy as well and I had to go without it for more than a year while nursing my daughter, who was allergic to milk protein, but it will be worth it to find out. Just try eliminating dairy for about 4 weeks and see if that reduces your flares. Then, slowly reintroduce it over the next four weeks to see whether your flares worsen.
Here is an article that lists some other common HS triggers: https://hsdisease.com/living/sticks-stones. Here is another article about the anti-inflammatory diet: https://hsdisease.com/clinical/anti-inflammatory-diet. I thought that might interest you as well.

I hope others in the community chime in with their own experiences and that you get this figured out soon. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)
